Alexander Maass has been trained in Würzburg/Germany as Internist, Cardiologist and Clinical Electrophysiologist. Since May 2006, dr. Maass works as Cardiologist and Director of the Cardiac Device Program in the University Medical Centre Groningen, The Netherlands. In 2016, he became Deputy Director of the Cardiology Training program and since September 2019, he is fully responsible for training young doctors to become cardiologists.
Current activities
His research focus is on optimization of cardiac device implantation and programming. He has participitated as an investigator in several landmark device studies and is member of the critical event committee of several ongoing landmark device studies. He is supervising students on several investigator-initiated studies to improve delivery of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators with the main focus on cardiac resynchronisation therapy.
