My name is Gijs van Woerden, and I am a PhD student under the supervision of Dirk Jan van Veldhuisen, Michiel Rienstra and Daan Westenbrink. In 2017, I graduated in medicine and started my career in research, mainly focusing on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. In my leisure time, I like doing sports and playing music.
Current activities
My work is concentrating on the relationship between obesity and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, with special focus on the adipose tissue surrounding the heart, called ‘epicardial fat’.
