After I graduated from medical school in Utrecht, I started working as a clinical doctor at the Department of Cardiology of the Jeroen Bosch Hospital (‘s Hertogenbosch). In this year, I learned that I was really passionate about the field of cardiology, and became truly motivated to eventually becoming a clinical cardiologist. Soon after starting my PhD-program at the UMCG, I realized that I was working with an extremely enthusiastic and unique team of heart failure scientists. Therefore, I am grateful that at our department, I get the opportunity to continue my scientific work with becoming a heart failure specialist.
Current activities
My aim is to investigate sex differences in the treatment of heart failure, and to better understand the close pathophysiological link between sex, atrial fibrillation and heart failure, which could lead to better detection, understanding, and personalized treatment of patients in this vicious circle.
