Abdullah Said

Alumnus

I have a background in medicine, but have combined my master’s degree with research as a doctoral researcher (MD/PhD track) to pursue my interests in research. Since the start of my research in 2016, I have been involved in projects in large cohorts such as the UK Biobank and LifeLines and international genetic consortia such as CHARGE. Also after having successfully completed the MD/PhD track (graduated as MD in 2019, obtained PhD in the beginning of 2021), I will continue performing reserach. In my spare time, I enjoy bouldering and playing squash.

Current activities

My research is centralized around aiming to improve risk prediction, early prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, with a focus on coronary artery disease. To this end, I focus on both genetic and lifestyle risk factors underlying cardiovascular diseases.
