Remco de Brouwer received his graduate degree in Medicine in 2018, after which he focused on clinical work with a strong slant towards internal medicine. During his first postgraduate year he found the desire to do research in a more specialized field and subsequently joined the UMCG cardiology research department as a PhD candidate under the supervision of prof. dr. Rudolf de Boer. His current project focuses on finding novel methods to predict which carriers of genes responsible for specific types of hereditary cardiomyopathy will develop symptoms later in life, allowing clinicians to focus their attention on high risk subgroups.
