Cardiac CT and MR imaging to replace invasive coronary angiography in patients with suspicion of coronary artery disease (CAD)
The proportion of patients with obstructive coronary artery disease during invasive coronary angiography (ICA) is low. Non-invasive imaging techniques have mainly been tested as gatekeeper for ICA in selected populations not resembling clinical practice. We hypothesize that the relative contribution of ICA to clinical decision making is limited when high quality CTA and CMR perfusion imaging is available in a real-life clinical all-comers population.
REPLACE-IT is a pragmatic prospective multicentre observational study in which a total of 440 patients who have been indicated for ICA because of clinical suspicion of CAD, will be asked to undergo both CTA and CMR perfusion imaging. Exclusion criteria are instable CAD, renal insufficiency, cardiac arrhythmia. The study aims to evaluate the decision making based on CTA and CMR as compared to ICA.
