The University of Groningen held its annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition on March 11th, 2020 at the Forum and our colleague Vicente Artola Arita was the first prize winner!
During his presentation “One size does not fit our hearts” Vicente talked about the high prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation and the importance it will have in the future regarding the increase on population ageing and the challenges this brings: early detection, adequate prevention and personalized medicine.
In his project he intends to utilize biomarkers to discover the substrate of the pathophysiological pathways that can unravel the characteristics of patients with Atrial Fibrillation for a better diagnosis, prevention and therapeutic response in order to achieve a more personalized approach.
